L'adaptation en long, elle existe déjà, elle s'appelle Edward Scissorhands.

Johnny Depp is no stranger to playing iconic characters. From Sweeney Todd to Ichabod Crane to Willy Wonka, the man has a pretty extensive and impressive character log under his belt. Next up for him is Barnabas Collins in the Tim Burton adaptation of Dark Shadows.

Depp will play Barnabas Collins, a 200-year-old vampire who crosses paths with the youthful Victoria Winters and the devious Willie Loomis, played in the film by Bella Heathcoate and Jackie Earle Haley. Recently Depp spoke with MTV about what he intends on bringing to the role made famous by the great Jonathan Frid.

"For me, even the conversations I’ve had with Tim, what Jonathan Frid did with that character and that classic look he created, I find it very difficult to stray very far from that," Depp tells the network. "I think it’s going to be somewhere in that arena, with maybe just a couple of different touches here and there. There’s something about this vampire coming back after 200 years into this modern world, with a touch of the poetic, with maybe a tendency to maybe wax a little poetic now and again. I have a good feeling about it. But Jonathan Frid’s Barnabas was so special."

Helena Bonham Carter et Michelle Pfeiffer pourraient rejoindre Dark Shadows, l'un des nombreux projets de Tim Burton

Michelle Pfeiffer chez Tim Burton, on n'avait plus vu ça depuis l'excellent Batman le défi. Mais la paire devrait collaborer une nouvelle fois, cette fois-ci pour Dark Shadows. D'après Deadline, la mythique interprète de Catwoman prêtera ses traits à Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, la matriarche de la famille Collins qui possède le manoir Collinwood, où l'essentiel de l'histoire prendra place. Piqûre de rappel, Dark Shadows est l'adaptation de série télé éponyme, datant des années 60.


Depuis un petit moment, un film de Tim burton ne serait rien sans Helena Bonham Carter, la compagne du cinéaste. Ca tombe bien, elle devrait également prendre part à Dark Shadows. Elle y incarnerait le Dr. Julia Hoffman, une spécialiste en psychologie et en troubles sanguins qui se rendra à Collinwood et qui aidera le vampire Barnabas à soigner son addiction. Si tout est confirmé, Michelle Pfeiffer et Helena Bonham Carter rejoindraient Johnny Depp, Jackie Earle Haley, Eva Green et Bella Heatcote au casting de Dark Shadows.
